All appeals are managed by the Hackney Learning Trust.

If you have not been offered a place at Mossbourne Victoria Park Academy (MVPA), the law entitles you to appeal against that decision to an Independent Appeal Panel. This panel is completely independent of  both the school and the Local Authority. The appeals are held in Hackney.

If you wish to appeal, please download an appeal form. You should include any evidence or supporting material with your appeal form and you must give the grounds for your appeal at the time you lodge your appeal form. Your appeal form will not be accepted unless you state the grounds for your appeal. You may appeal for more than one school.

Mossbourne Victoria Park Appeals Form 2019

Our students study a curriculum which is broad and balanced. A main focus is mastery in the core areas of English, Maths and Science, in which students will spend over half of lesson time.

As well as studying this core curriculum, students study:

  • Humanities
  • Spanish
  • Art, Design, Technology
  • Music
  • Drama
  • Coding
  • Physical Education

This curriculum allows a balance between academic, creative and practical subjects and ensures that students develop a range of knowledge and skills.

Students will also participate in two Guided Reading sessions each week. Students are grouped by reading age and read, discuss and review literature which will challenge and inspire them. These sessions are led by a member of staff but the onus is very much on the students to develop their oracy through public reading and debate/discussion.

In the Enrichment Programme, students join clubs and societies to broaden their horizons and extend their skills and areas of interest. From Debating, Chess, Origami, Badminton, Film Club, Biological Drawing, Music Appreciation and many more, students can choose from a wide and exciting range of Enrichment activities.

Finally, students have a Prep session at the end of each day. This allows them to:

  • reflect on what they have learnt in the day’s lessons
  • organise and prioritise their work
  • begin homework

Prep allows students to develop independent study skills and take ownership of their own learning.
