MOSSBOURNE VICTORIA PARK ACADEMY

Welcome to our website, and the gateway to our school. As Principal of Mossbourne Victoria Park, I know it is a school unlike any other. Part of the prestigious Mossbourne Federation, our academic outcomes are amongst the best in the country. But, as a local school in South Hackney, we have our own distinctive character and ethos. Visitors always comment on our polite and cheerful students, our beautiful listed school building, and the enthusiasm and energy of our staff.

Our template for success is traditional. Subjects are taught as discrete disciplines, students are expected to complete homework from the start of Year 7, and staff never accept poor behaviour or rudeness from any child. As a result of this, students learn to work diligently and independently in everything they do – we put on fantastic plays and musical productions, regular concerts and recitals, and our sports teams can often be found (voluntarily!) training on Well Street Common from 07:00 in the morning.

We also focus on ‘the invisible curriculum’. Manners, conversation, personal presentation and honesty are all highly valued at the academy, and we ask parents and carers to work with us in partnership to guide students through these vital years. Staff, students and parents are all proud members of our school community, and together we have created an exceptional place to learn.

Mr M Toothe, Principal

"It has been wonderful to see my child grow and develop at MVPA. Staff really care about and expect the best from them,""

MVPA Parent

"I'd never been in a play or done acting before I came to MVPA. Now I'm doing drama GCSE and want to be an actor! I've been given so much confidence by what I've experienced here."

MVPA Student

I never knew how much could be achieved until I came to work at Mossbourne. I wish all schools could be like this.
