MOSSBOURNE VICTORIA PARK ACADEMY
Coronavirus Update: RISK ASSESSMENT FOR PHASED REOPENING TO YEAR 10 STUDENTS
From Monday, 15th June, the staff of Mossbourne Victoria Park Academy look forward to welcoming back Year 10 students. I commend all of our students for their resilience and commitment to their studies during this unprecedented and difficult period; they have made us truly proud. Staff have missed all our students deeply and, though Monday will not bring normality, it is the first step on the long journey back to normality.
Please let me assure parents that the safety of staff, students and the community is our utmost priority and safety will continue to be monitored throughout the period of gradual return. Google Classroom will continue to be the predominant mode of teaching for all year groups to ensure that children in Years 10 do not fall behind if they are unable to return to the academy on Monday 15th June. Staff continue to work hard from home, planning for how children of all year groups will be supported academically, emotionally and pastorally upon their return and will continue to set work until the end of term on Friday 10th July.
The last few weeks have been tremendously confusing and frightening for our young people following the horrific killing of George Floyd. The staff of Mossbourne Victoria Park Academy stand united in support of Black members of our community in the determination to attain true equality for all in our community, and beyond. Our young people are the champions of the changes which must, unequivocally, take place – and education is the most powerful of all tools to initiate the changes which must happen.
I also offer immeasurable thanks to the many parents who have been in contact over the period of closure with to offer support, thanks and well wishes.
Please also be aware that the academy reception is open daily from 8am – 3:30pm, so please do not hesitate to telephone us should you have any concerns or need support with home learning, safeguarding or any other matter pertaining to your child’s learning or welfare.
Please be assured that we are committed to ensuring that we do all within our power to reduce the impact of the closure on pupil learning and attainment and would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support during this difficult time.
